A ‘FUNNY and bright’ teenager who was killed in the street after a feud between rival youths turned deadly has been named locally.
Detectives were called in after a 15-year-old boy was found with serious injuries on Clarendon Street late last night.
Amen Teklay was targeted by at least two other boys in a knife attack close to the city’s St George’s Cross.
Murder cops closed the scene down on Wednesday night after reports a youngster had been found seriously injured.
But when emergency services arrived at 10.30pm Amen was pronounced dead.
Amen’s relatives were too upset to speak at their home in Glasgow’s Knightswood, but a family friend said: “It’s terrible. He was such a kind boy. He was always smiling.”
Meanwhile, a local community charity paid tribute to Amen on social media.
Kingsway Community Connections posted: “Amen, 15, was involved in our Youth Group and Film Group over the past year and was still receiving support from our staff until yesterday afternoon.
“He was funny, bright and enjoyed playing football, he loved pizza nights and taking part in a summer BBQ.
“Our memories of Amen are encapsulated in this film he made together with his friends where he talked about why attending the group was important to him.
“Amen developed great relationships with our team, and we are all devastated with his sudden death.
“We are providing support to Amen’s immediate family and our community as they come to terms with the loss of a Son, Friend and brother.
“We ask that you consider the thoughts and feelings of those grieving the loss of a young man who had his whole life still in front of him and respect the privacy of his family and friends at this deeply upsetting time.
“KCC would also like to extend our thoughts to the other support agencies who we know were supporting Amen before his death and give thanks to the emergency services who tried desperately to save his life.”
One witness to Wednesday’s violence said teenagers were seen fighting in the area before paramedics raced into the street.
He said: “I looked out the window and saw a gang of lads in a skirmish.
“It was three or four against two.
“They were all young boys.
“They were running in and out of the shadows but you could see them swinging at each other.
The source added: “A couple of the boys hit the ground but they were trying to get up and have a go.
“There was no way I was going down to get involved in any of that.
“I lost sight of them and the next thing I knew two ambulances turned up.
“Police were everywhere within minutes.
“They put up two white tents.”
A source told The Scottish Sun: “The boys had some sort of dispute in the past. They had plenty of arguments. They had issues in the past.
“I think the police and the school are aware of previous issues.”
Friends of Amen- understood to have been a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas secondary – paid tribute online.
One said: “So sad, forever 15. Rest in peace my friend.”
Another added: “Love you bro, rest in peace.”
Photos from the scene yesterday showed a blue barrier erected along the road and numerous police vehicles parked in front of it.
Forensic officers were also pictured at the scene this morning as a huge section of the area was cordoned off.
Officers were seen standing guard outside the entrance to a block of flats.
Another local said: “The guys in the white suits were there during the night going through everything.
“I stepped outside the house and couldn’t believe it.
“Everything was cordoned off and there were officers everywhere.
“Apparently a young lad was getting chased by a car.
“A boy jumped out and stabbed him with a dagger then got back in and they sped off.”

Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly said: “An extensive investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death. Whilst formal identification has yet to take place, we have spoken to the family of the boy and will continue to provide them with specialist support at this distressing time.”
“We have been gathering CCTV footage from the surrounding area, which is being reviewed.
“Officers have also been carrying out door to door enquiries in the local area and will continue to do so.
“I would also be very keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who has dash cam, private CCTV or doorbell footage around the time of the incident.
“Any information, or footage, could prove vital, so please do pass it on to officers.”
Chief Inspector Colin MacLucas, Local Area Commander, said: “I understand that residents in the area will be very concerned following this incident however I can reassure them we are working very closely with our detective colleagues to establish the circumstances and I can assure them that there will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area.
“I would urge anyone with questions, concerns or information to approach officers who are there to help.”
